In a relief to patients, who were compelled to go to India for treatment, doctors said they have started Out Patient Department (OPD) services at Tundikhel open ground. Hospitals and clinics remained closed for a fifth day.
The doctors are striking in order to press the authorities to address demands of leading orthopaedic surgeon Govinda K C, who is on the fast unto death since January 11.
Govinda, a senior professor at the Institution of Medicine, is staging the strike to protest appointment of Shashi Sharma as the dean of the institute.
On January 21, more than 100 doctors resigned to show solidarity with Govinda and to push for reform of medical education.
Meanwhile, the government has formed a four-member team to hold talks with the agitating doctors.
