A dry port would soon be set up for agricultural produces and the Haryana government would allot land for it near any railway station, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said today.
"It will help in agricultural produce and products reaching the port through the dry port, and benefit the farmers immensely," Khattar told reporters after a visit of a three-day Haryana Agri Leadership Summit, 2015, here.
Asked about procurement of wheat in the state, the chief minister said five agencies of the the state government would purchase the crop.
"Every single grain of wheat will be procured for the benefit of the farmers, and they will not face any difficulty in marketing their produce," he added.
The economic development of Haryana depends on agriculture and the development of agriculture will improve the lot of the farmers, he said.
"The three-day Haryana Agri Leadership Summit... Would help in increasing both productivity and income of the farmers and facilitate better marketing of their produce," he added.
Speaking after inaugurating an exhibition at the Agri Leader Pavilion, Khattar stressed the need for special emphasis on the marketing of agricultural produce which would help increase the income of the farmers.
It is vital in the present era of globalisation, he pointed out.
He was accompanied by Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Haryana Agriculture Minister O P Dhankar among others.
Farmers from across the country are attending the Summit.
Gadkari appreciated the initiative taken by the state government to organise the event, and said that better understanding of marketing of agricultural produce would pave the way for prosperity of the farmers.
