Easier detection of explosives with new metal detector
The device using magnetic induction principle, resembles a small box and can function on battery fitted inside the kit. If any suspicious parcel is sent through the detector, it emits a loud beep sound and a light comes on.
Officials said the Security Branch of CID had dispatched detectors to big districts and cities and was more effective than imported devices.
Anti-sabotage police teams had been provided with deep search metal detector, multi-zone metal detector, x-ray scanner and handheld metal detectors, they said.
They would soon get new explosive vapour detectors and a non-linear junction detector.
