East Delhi mayor goes for surprise inspection at EDMC headquarters

East Delhi Mayor Bipin Bihari Singh today conducted a surprise inspection of different departments at the civic body's headquarters in the Patparganj area and sought action against employees who were allegedly found neglecting their duties, officials said.

He sought the action in a letter to the municipal commissioner.

The mayor after reaching the East Delhi Municipal Corporation's headquarters - Udyog Sadan, inspected the property tax department, municipal secretary's office and town planning department, besides other departments, the EDMC said in a statement.

"During his inspection, the mayor found that many employees were not at their seats and there was negligence of duty on their part," the statement claimed.

Singh was quoted as saying in the statement that he has written a "letter to the commissioner and demanded strict action against those found neglecting their duties during office hours".

The mayor said any dereliction of duty on part of the employees "will not be tolerated," adding, the EDMC is committed to improve its working culture for better service delivery.
