A recovery of about Rs 10 lakh has to be effected from several VIPs and their guests for non-payment of prescribed rent for their stay in residential accommodation of the Madhya Pradesh government here, according to an audit report.
The money has to be recovered from as many as 169 people who stayed at 'Madhya Pradesh Bhawan' and Madhyanchal, most of whom on references from serving ministers, office bearers of BJP at Centre and in the state, a senior Congress leader and other officials of MP government during 2008-12, says the report accessed by Bhopal-based RTI activist Ajay Dubey.

The report was made available to Dubey on September 7, this year. It was not immediately known if the people who figured in the list have paid the rent dues after the audit report was submitted to the government.
"Guests have been sent letters and reminders from time to time and they have been again sent the letters. The guests have been contacted over the phone for making the due payment," the audit report said.
