The 66-year-old entertainer and his filmmaker partner are in a civil partnership they entered into in England back in 2005 after beginning their relationship in 1993, reported E!Online.
During a chat show, when the singer was asked if he would take advantage of the law that legalize same-sex marriage, John responded with a "Yes."
"Yeah, we will do next May when it comes out. If the laws are gonna help us again, as a famous gay couple we will do it. It's our duty to do it to make sure everyone knows that this is something that's a gift that we never dreamed we'd ever get," John said.
