US publisher Henry Holt and UK sister company Pan Macmillan announced the news of the award-winning musician's first book, reported Entertainment Weekly.
Talking about his experience on first time writing a book, John said, "I'm not prone to being a nostalgic person. I'm often accused of only looking forward to my next gig or creative project. It's come as quite a surprise how cathartic I am finding the process of writing my memoirs."
The 69-year-old musician recalled his old times, saying his journey has been a roller-coaster ride.
"My life has been one helluva roller-coaster ride and it's still lumbering on. I hope readers will enjoy the ride too," he said.
John is co-writing the autobiography described as a "no-holds-barred account of Elton's life and work as the most enduring singer-songwriter of his generation" - with journalist Alexis Petridis. It will arrive in 2019.
