An agricultural department official, who was en route to join his new posting, died in an accident here on Wednesday morning, police said.
Ramkesh (45), the assistant director of the soil testing division, was going to Bareilly from Lucknow on a truck with his goods following his transfer, Superintendent of Police (City) Dinesh Tripathi said.
The incident occurred when the truck driver, Anil Kumar (35), apparently dozed off and the vehicle rammed into a roadside house, the SP said.
Ramkesh and Kumar died on the spot, while the owner of the house and three others sustained serious injuries. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem, the officer added.
