The encounter was going on in Budha Pahad jungle near Lavadih village after security forces reached there on getting information that the Maoists had shot at a villager and abducted two others, including a woman, Nawada Superintendent of Police Parvez Akhtar said
"The encounter is going on since morning. The security forces have seized a self loading rifle being used by Maoists. The entire picture will be clear only after the encounter is over," Akhtar said.
The condition of Yadav is not yet clear, whether he is injured or dead, he said.
The Maoists later released the abducted woman.
Police said the extremists had banned the entry of villagers in the forests since June 20 as they were holding their sub-zonal meeting in the Budha Pahad forests.
