The Shiromani Akali Dal-BJP alliance symbolises forces of "reaction" and "regression", Bajwa charged while stressing that the Congress stood for secularism and inclusiveness.
In a statement here, Bajwa claimed that the people of Punjab were feeling harassed and humiliated and were just waiting for the opportunity to punish those who were robbing and looting the state.
"The socio-political environment has turned suffocating under Akali 'jathedars' without whose signal a common man cannot even lodge a complaint with police," he charged.
"How come there is now no talk of a Metro for Ludhiana and Pod transportation system for Amritsar? All talk of providing cheap cancer treatment... Has proved hollow as the 'cancer train' from Bathinda to Bikaner continues to be full with patients from (Punjab) who are looking to get cheaper treatment," Bajwa alleged.
He advised that Deputy Chief Minister and Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal should visit the cities of Punjab to take a first-hand look at the actual status of development in the state.
Schools and dispensaries in the countryside are crumbling while there is no adequate government staff to meet the basic needs of the people, he claimed.
