Exhibition to showcase Mahatma Gandhi, Thai king Bhumibol

For the first time, India and Thailand have planned a joint interactive exhibition here on Mahatma Gandhi and Thai king Bhumibol Adulyadej, allowing people to gain an insight into their lives.
The exhibition titled "Bapu: Love for the Nation" will showcase the thoughts and works on development of the two leaders and is set to open here on December 3 till January 4.
The event, organised by the Indian Embassy, Culture ministry and Thai Foreign Affairs ministry, is being held on the occasion of the Thai King's 87th birthday on December 5.
King Bhumibol is the world's longest-reigning monarch.
"The content will be displayed under three headings; environmental development, rural development and development philosophy, in both Thai and English languages," India's Ambassador to Thailand Harsh Vardhan Shringla said.

Using multimedia facilities, the exhibition will allow visitors to experience rare images, documentary videos and quotes of the two leaders as well as learn the story behind them.

Display cases will also feature replicas of objects that represent the life works of the two renowned figures.
Indians revered Gandhi while the Thai King was a father of nation for the Thais, Shringla told reporters here.
Gandhi lived in the first part of 20th century, but both leaders laid great emphasis on development, sustainability and rural development, he added.
Many substantive issues of the two leaders will be conveyed through interactive features at the exhibition.

The exhibits are not just pictures but are interactive panels representing cutting-edge technology to interest all, Shringla said.
Our hope is to attract a lot of younger people to see the exhibition, the envoy said.
A cultural troupe from Gujarat will be here to perform during the festivities associated with the King's birthday.
