Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the state agriculture minister to send experts to ascertain the loss and cause of crop-damage in Uttar Pradesh's Mathura district.
State Cabinet minister Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary said on Monday that he had apprised Adityanath of the problems faced by the farmers of Chhata administrative area -- around 32 km from Mathura.
Adityanath has ordered Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi and the department's principal secretary to send teams to ascertain the loss and actual cause of the damage of crops in 120 villages of the area, Chaudhary said.
The chief minister also called for measures to prevent further damage to the paddy and cottonseed crops, the Chhata constituency MLA said.
Seventy-per cent crops have been damaged by a pest. Application of insecticides and other medicines have failed to yield the desired results, Chaudhary said.
The dairy development minister added that he had requested Adityanath for compensation to the farmers by the insurance companies and government.
