In a Facebook post, D Karthik (30), who allegedly murdered J Shanmugam was maliciously described as a "pimp".
A picture of a woman was also annexed in the post and Karthik's mobile number was also given. Following this, he began getting phone calls soliciting "arrangement" of "service" by commercial sex workers.
He suspected that his friend had posted the comment and had a heated argument with him over the issue.
Shamugham however, denied it and said "he had better things to do" than upload such dirty posts.
Karthik also overpowered the man whom Shanmugam was talking to and shoved him away.
A profusely bleeding Shanmugam was later declared dead at a government hospital.
Police said a probe is on and they would soon apprehend the culprit.
