According to his relatives and villagers of Nagireddypalli, Syed Mohammed Maqbool Basha (45) and his brother possess five acres of land for which his brother managed to obtain a 'pattadar' passbook from revenue officials.
Basha approached the grievance cell chaired by the district collector many times, as well as requested the Nandalur Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO) and Rajampeta Revenue Divisional officer for a passbook.
However, the present MRO demanded Rs 4 lakh to issue him the passbook.
Soon after the police brought down the body from the tower, an irate mob staged a demonstration on the road demanding justice and action against the MRO.
The Nandalur police also discovered a suicide note from Basha which revealed the entire story, after which it registered a case and send his body for postmortem.
