A 53-year-old farmer was today trampled to death by a rampaging elephant in Masinagudi near here.
Pappan was grazing his goats in Sincara area, when all of a sudden he was confronted by two elephants.
Though he tried to run away with passers-by in a jeep attempting to scare away the jumbos by blowing the horn, one of the rampaging elephants caught hold of the farmer and trampled him, injuring him seriously, police said.
He was rushed to a nearby primary health centre and then to the government hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead, police added.
