The father of an army captain, who was slain in today's terror attack in Kashmir, has demanded strong action from the government, saying such deaths would continue in the absence of a firm policy.
"How long will be see our children being killed like this," asked Arun Kant Yadav, whose son Ayush Yadav was killed when three heavily-armed terrorists stormed an army camp in Kupwara district.
Yadav also vented his ire at human rights activists, saying they do not speak out in such cases.
"When our soldiers retaliate, human rights' activists complain. This is nothing for them. You tie a person to a jeep and there is outrage, inquiry and actions. If we do not avoid this (outrage), how is this going to work?," he asked.
Yadav said his niece and her husband are majors in the army. Had his son survived, he too would have been a major some day, he said.
"You can see for yourself what is the environment in the country. Unless there is strong policy and action, it will continue. People will be martyred. Something must be done about it. It should not happen to anyone else's child," he added.
