A father-son duo has been arrested from Nanded district in connection with recovery of 60 bullets from three youths in December last year, police said today.
"The accused have been identified as Sardar Khan and his son Imtiyas Khan. Acting on a tip-off, they were arrested yesterday from a hideout at Atara Nagar area of Nanded district," Police Inspector (PI) Sagar Ingole of Darathi police station said.
On December 31, 2015, 60 bullets were recovered from three youths, who were stopped at the checkpost under Darathi police station limits, he said.
The youths, during interrogation, named the duo, following which the police made a search at the latter's residence in Pusad town in the district, he said.
A few bullets, passport size photos and forged ration cards were recovered from the house, he said, adding that he was evading arrest ever since.
Sardar Khan was on the run after jumping parole while serving a life sentence for murder in Nagpur Central Jail, the PI said, adding he was handed over to Pusad police for questioning.
Imtiyas Khan was produced before Umarkhed court here, which sent him to police custody till February 9, the official said.
Anti-Terror Squad (ATS) from Akola district is also participating in the probe, he said.
A case has been registered against the duo under relevant sections of the IPC, he said, adding further investigation is on.
