FIFA U17 WC: Hyundai to provide transport to players, official

South Korean car maker Hyundai Motor today said it has got the mandate to provide transportation facilities to the players and officials during the FIFA U17 World Cup, starting in India this week.
Hyundai Motor India Ltd (HMIL) has got the exclusive rights to provide transportation through its premium cars to the FIFA officials during the mega sporting event, the company said.
The FIFA U17 World Cup is being hosted by India for the first time. It will commence from October 6 with matches in New Delhi and Navi Mumbai.
The other four venues for the World Cup are - Guwahati, Kochi, Delhi and Kolkata. There are 24 teams which are participating in the mega tournament.
As part of the mandate, Hyundai has deployed a fleet of 63 premium cars including the next gen Verna, Tucson, Elite i20 and a few coaches across six cities for the movement of the players and the FIFA management during the mega sports event, it said.
HMIL managing director and chief executive officer Y K Koo officially handed over these cars to Martin Nussbaumer, marketing operations group leader of FIFA and Javier Ceppi, tournament director, local organising committee at a ceremony held at New Delhi's Jawahar Lal Nehru Stadium today, the release said.
"Hyundai is proud to partner with The FIFA U17 World Cup being hosted for the first time in India. At Hyundai, we understand the passion of the Indian football fans and want to keep the excitement around Hyundai brand alive by engaging with our customers at every point," Koo said.
Hyundai has also planned a number of interactive engagement with the young footballs fans in the country through various digital campaigns, it said.
