A verbal duel erupted between three passengers over a seat on the train. The altercation turned nasty when one of them allegedly pushed the other two, a father-son duo, off the train between the Gudur and Tirupati stations, a senior GRP officer said based on a preliminary probe into the matter.
Of the above duo, who were admitted in hospital, the father, identified as one Rahman, died during treatment, the GRP official said, adding that the son is still unconscious.
"When co-passengers cornered the person for having pushed the father-son duo off the train, he got nervous and suddenly tried to get down from the train. However, he suffered a fatal fall in the process," the GRP officer said.
Further inquiries are on in the matter, GRP added.
