First British Asian takes charge at Leicestershire county

After being appointed CEO of Leicestershire cricket, Wasim Khan has become the first British Asian official to take charge of a county club.
Former Derbyshire, Sussex and Warwickshire batsman, Wasim was believed to be the first British-born player of Pakistan origin to play county cricket.
The 43-year-old administrator, who has accumulated 2,835 first-class runs in an 11-year professional career, including a career-best score of 181, is to take up his position at Grace Road in January 2015.
"I am looking forward to working with the staff and the board because I know they are terrific people," Khan was quoted as saying on BBC.

Wasim was also speculated to succeed David Collier as the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) chief executive, a post which finally went to former Derbyshire all-rounder Tom Harrison.
