The Rashtrapati Bhavan today hosted a unique reunion of sorts as past and present ADCs to the President got together here for the first time.
The event included officials who were deputed with the first President of India Dr Rajendra Prasad.
The first official reunion of the Aides-de-camp (ADC) included officers not just from across India, but various countries like the US, UK, UAE, Egypt and Australia.
On the occasion, President Pranab Mukherjee said he considered ADCs as not only constant companions of the President, but the most valued colleagues of the Head of the State, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesperson.
"He stated that each one of the ADCs present was associated with his eminent predecessors.
He urged them to always bear in mind that they were never guests but inmates of this House, each and every part of which is associated not only with imperial history but the history of our country, its people and its future," the spokesperson said quoting the President.
The reunion was attended by past and present ADCs of all the Presidents since independence.
"Rear Adm.(Retd) Kirpal Singh (ADC to C Rajagopalachari) and Air Marshal (Retd) M M Sinha (ADC to Dr Rajendra Prasad) were among the oldest former ADCs attending the event.
Lt. Gen. Rameshwar Yadav, DG Infantry, and Lt Gen S K Gadeock, Commandant Staff College Wellington, were the senior most serving former ADCs," the spokesperson said.
