"We are very happy to announce that the Indian beamline at Photon Factory (PF) is operational and is being used by both Indian and Japanese scientists," Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics (SINP) director Milan K Sanyal said here today.
This synchrotron facility remains operational almost throughout the year with an average total user time of 4000 hours per year, SINP sources said.
SINP has developed the synchrotron beamline at Photon Factory, KEK, Japan for carrying out nanoscience research by Indian scientists with funding from Department of Science and Technology (DST).
Sanyal said the project which will be operational till 2014 and may be extended for another five years.
