Fishermen relieved as dredging machinery reaches Kundapur

Meeting the long-pending demand of fishermen in the coastal area of Udupi, a dredging equipment was brought to Kundapur in the district, official sources said.
The estuary and the fishing port at Gangolli near Kundapur had been filled with silt for long and accidents were frequent in the region. Fishermen had been requesting the government for a dredging machinery to avoid loss of lives in such mishaps.
As per the government's decision to construct a breakwater there, the dredging operations would begin soon.The dredging operations would begin by April 5 and fishermen need not worry about their routine fishing activities in the area during the period, the sources said.

The dredging is scheduled to be executed at Gangolli port, Gangolli estuary, and Kody jetty.
