Bodies of five persons killed while allegedly making bombs in a locality in Hazaribagh town on April 17, were today exhumed and sent to Ranchi for post mortem, a police officer said.
All bodies were identified by their families present during the exhumation, Superintendent of Police Akhilesh Kumar Jha told reporters.
"It was done in the presence of Sub-divisional Officer (Hazaribagh Sadar) Anuj Kumar Prasad, Magistrate Kumud Jha and other people in charge of the burial ground," he said.
While four were exhumed from the burial ground, the fifth was exhumed from a place one km away, he said.
Earlier, the police had taken permission from the local court to exhume the bodies after reports came in that the deaths were due to a blast while allegedly making bombs by seven persons at Habibinagar colony of the Khirgaon locality here.
Another body (sixth) was found on April 20 hidden in a tank of an abandoned house in the colony, the SP said.
Another person, who was said to be among the seven, has been arrested and was under treatment for his injuries, Jha said.
The highly decomposed bodies were sent to Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences, Ranchi, for post mortem, he said.
A curfew, which was imposed on April 17 following clashes between two groups during a Rama Navami procession, was lifted yesterday after the town limped back to normalcy.
