Five injured as tar-filled drum explodes

Altogether five people received burn injuries when a drum filled with tar exploded near Chanditala in Behala area of the metropolis today.
The injured were admitted to the state-run SSKM Hospital with severe burn injuries, police sources said.
All the tar-filled drums, stored in the area for repairof roads, were later moved to an isolated place to ensure safety for local residents.
Reaction of chemicals mixed in the tar was suspected to be the cause of explosion, the sources said.
