"Five persons were tested positive of the vector-bone disease, out of which three were from Jammu, one from Kathua and one from Udhampur district," Director of Health Services (Jammu) Baljeet Singh Pathania said.
Out of 77 blood samples tested yesterday, 19 were found to be positive of which 14 were from Jammu district, four from Kathua and one from Doda district.
Pathania said that blood samples of over 400 persons with dengue-like symptoms have been tested so far, out of which 57 were found positive although no serious case has been reported so far.
A health advisory, issued by the Centre, has been published widely in local dailies to create awareness about the disease, Pathania said, adding that people need to take precautions to save themselves from mosquito bites.
The health department claimed that it is equipped to treat patients suffering from dengue.
