Five statutory towns of Haryana have no slums

Five statutory towns of Haryana, Ambala Cantonment, Beri, Kanina, Dharuhera and Hasanpur, have no slums within their jurisdiction, Haryana Census Operations joint director G Bapu Ji said here today in a release.
The slum data has been collected from 75 out of 80 statutory towns of Haryana.
The five statutory towns, which have a municipality, corporation, cantonment board or Notified Area Committee, did not report any slum within their jurisdiction, he said.
According to the data released here, as many as 3,25,995 households are living in slum areas out of total 70,88,008 households, which is 4.6 per cent of statutory towns in Haryana, as per the 2011 census.
78.1 per cent of slum households are living in permanent houses, 17.7 per cent in semi-permanent and only 4.2 per cent are living in temporary or dilapidated structures, he said.
73.2 per cent of slum households are availing facility of drinking water through taps, 92.3 per cent of households having facility of electricity, 80 per cent of households are having toilet facility within their premises, Bapu Ji said.
According to the data, over 73 per cent of households are having separate toilet facility within their houses, while 63.6 per cent of households are using LPG as main source of cooking.
As many as 74.3 per cent of households have television and 3.7 per cent have computer with Internet facility, he added.
