Five powerful steel bombs were recovered today from a thickly vegetated area in the politically volatile Kannur district.
The bombs were found packed in papers and kept inside a plastic cover, police said.
Police and bomb squad rushed to the spot and defused it.
With police intensifying raids in the area, six steel bombs had been recovered from a driving test ground near at Dharmadam three days ago, police said.
Political murders involving CPI(M) and BJP workers have been reported in Kannur in which some activists of both the parties lost their lives recently.
