Worried over poor occupancy in some Shatabdi trains, railways has withdrawn the flexi fare system in certain sections of Ajmer and Mysore Shatabdi service from tomorrow.
"It has also been decided to withdraw flexi fare and give discounted fare in AC Chair Car in selected sectors of New Delhi-Ajmer Shatabdi Express and Chennai Central - Mysore Shatabdi Express," said a senior Railway Ministry official.
The sections on which concession is being offered are Ajmer-Jaipur, Jaipur-Kishangarh and Mysore-Bengaluru. The flexi fare system shall not be applicable for these sections of these trains.
On these identified sections, instead of flexi fare system, fixed fare system will be applicable, he said.
As per the decision, the existing fare between Jaipur and Ajmer in the New Delhi-Ajmer Shatabdi trains is Rs 335 which has been reduced to Rs 300.
The fare between Kishangarh and Jaipur for the Ajmer Shatabdi has been reduced from the existing Rs 375 to Rs 300.
The fare between Bengaluru and Mysore in the Chennai- Mysore Shatabdi Express was reduced from Rs 440 to Rs 300.
Other surcharge, if applicable shall be levied separately. The decision will be implemented from December 20.
