Delhi residents witnessed a foggy morning today with the minimum temperature settling three notches above normal at 10.2 degree Celsius.
However, the day temperature went down by four degrees to register a low of 16.5 degree Celsius.
Ganga Ram Rawat (40) and 55-year-old Munni Devi died due to cold last night in separate areas in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh, which saw maninly dry weather in many areas.
Parts of Kashmir valley, including Srinagar, got some respite from cold even as the mercury dipped in rest of the parts by a couple of degrees.
As Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, recorded a low of 1.5 degrees Celsius, the mercury settled at freezing point in Qazigund up by 1.5 degrees as compared to previous night.
A thick fog blanket engulfed entire Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh even as the minimum temperature rose up to a few notches in the region.
In Rajasthan mercury rose up to five degrees Celsius in many parts of the region abating frigid conditions.
Meanwhile in Himachal Pradesh, cold wave persisted as high altitude tribal areas got more snow and lower valley areas recorded scattered rains.
