The company, which is present in India via a wholly-owned subsidiary, currently sells models like EcoSport and Endeavour in the country.
"First time in 50 years we have right handed Mustang. We will launch this iconic model in India in second quarter of 2016," Ford India Managing Director and President Nigel Harris told reporters here.
The coming of Mustang to India is like icing on the cake considering the company's current product range in the country, he added.
"The new Mustang is a modern interpretation of the American icon and we are thrilled to be giving our customers in India the opportunity to experience this piece of automotive history for the first time," Harris said.
Since the Mustang went on sale in 1964, Ford has sold more than 90 lakh units.
The sedan will be launched here with a 5 litre V8 engine helping the car to a top speed of 250 km/hr.
"The new Ford Mustang is a one-of-a-kind vehicle and is going to appeal to Indian drivers," said Harris.
