When Patel, who was a farmer by profession and a member of the Valsad district panchayat, was taking some garbage collected from his farm to a nearby site in Kopardi area yesterday afternoon, the tractor which he was driving overturned after reaching the edge of a pit near the road.
According to the police, Patel lost balance and fell down from the drivers seat. Before he could move away, the tractor tumbled down on Patel, leaving him severly injured.
Patel represented Pardi seat as BJP MLA in 1998. After learning about his death, Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel mourned his death through a condolence message.
