Former Cong MP from Hamirpur passes away

Former Congress Lok Sabha member from Hamirpur in Himachal Pradesh Maj General (Retd) Bikram Singh passed away at Solan today.
Singh (87) is survived by his wife, a son and daughter. He was also Chairman of Himachal Pradesh Ex-Servicemen Corporation, Solan.
Hailing from Daulatpur Chowk in Una district, Singh was elected to Lok Sabha as Congress candidate from Hamirpur Parliamentary constituency in 1996.
Himachal Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh have expressed deep shock over his death and prayed for peace of the departed soul.
The Chief Minister said Singh rendered his valuable services to the nation while serving in the Indian Army and also raised several important national issues, particularly the issues pertaining to Himachal Pradesh as a Member of Parliament.
Himachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker B B L Butail, cabinet ministers and host of other political leaders also expressed grief over Singh's death.
