Workers of Ajit Singh-led Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), also participated in the dharna to support Rahi. Several lawyers too joined them.
RLD workers, led by district president Dharambir Singh demanded that misappropriation of funds should be probed in different social welfare schemes.
Recently, Rahi had appeared before the local court to record his statement in the case involving the bid on his life in 2009, but hearing was deferred to January 22.
A 2004 batch PCS officer, Rahi was attacked while he was posted as Social Welfare Officer in Muzaffarnagar. He had ordered an inquiry into the allocation of funds to the district office.
He had alleged a multi-crore scam in the social welfare department by staging a dharna in Lucknow last year, after which the state government had ordered a probe into his charges.
As many as 11 cases against various district officials have been registered so far in connection with the scam.
