Worldwide MSMEs are regarded as the engines of economic growth and a tool for promoting equitable development, the Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises said.
Contributing with eight per cent to India's GDP, the sector employs an estimated 8 crore people spread over 3.6 crore enterprises that produce a diversified product basket, Muniyappa said.
To meet the enhanced and ever growing demand for tooling, product and process development as well as skilled manpower the Ministry of MSME has launched the scheme titled Technology Centre Systems Programme.
On the occasion, Hooda said the Technology Centre at IMT Rohtak would be set up over an area of 20 acres of land for which the state government had given land worth Rs 40 crore.
Earlier, foundation stone was laid for a Technology Centre at Growth Centre at Saha, in Ambala District.
Hooda said that these two projects would be of immense benefit to the people of the state as these would generate huge employment opportunities for the youth.
The Technology Centres would facilitate development of a sustainable eco-system as these support MSMEs. They would be instrumental in providing technological push to the process and product development, he added.
Haryana today is a leading producer of cranes, excavators, cars, two-wheelers, sanitary-ware and footwear, he added.
