Four men drowned today in the Mahisagar river near Madhvas village in Gujarat's Mahisagar district while another member of their group is missing, police said.
The deceased were part of a group of eight revellers who had gone to the river for a bath today on being Sunday, Lunawada police inspector T D Machhar said.
They apparently drowned as they failed to gauge the depth of the water, sources said.
"We have managed to fish out the bodies of four of the five persons while the search is on for the fifth person," Machhar said.
He said the deceased belonged to different villages in Malpur taluka in Aravalli district.
The officer said bodies of Dhruv Patel (20), Kishan Patel (19), Brajesh Patel (22), and Krupal Patel (21) have been fished out.
