Last evening, three boys allegedly passed lewd comments on a minor girl in city's Shivaji Chowk area.
Enraged over the incident, some people demanded an apology from the boys, also minor, which led to a clash between two groups at around 11 PM yesterday.
The rival groups hurled stones at each other in which four persons including a police constable sustained injuries.
Some vehicles were also damaged in the violence even as the groups ransacked a pandal (canopy) in the area, police said.
Senior police officials including Nashik Commissioner of Police Kulwant Kumar Sarangal rushed to the spot and beefed up security in the area.
A riot controlling van was also stationed in the area as a precautionary measure, police said adding that no one was arrested in connection with the incident so far.
The situation is under control, they added.
