Four inmates today escaped from the Haflong sub-jail of Assam's Dima Hasao but were later rearrested, police said.
The four inmates, who were kept in a single cell due to shortage of space, managed to break the wall of the bathroom and escaped early this morning.
The police launched a search operation immediately and rearrested them from the Thaijuwari area under Diyungmukh police station of the district.
The inmates have been identified as Kommon Hasamsa, Krishna Malakar, Khanaiya Choudhary and Santana Munda, police added.
