A prominent French language school having network all over the world today kicked off the week-long celebrations to mark the world music day on June 21 in a big way with local musicians representing various genres performing on each day.
Deputy Consul General of France in Kolkata, Olivier Cassin told a press meet here today, the week-long event was being organised by Alliance Francaise Du Bengale and supported by the French consulate here.
Tracing the journey of the World Music Day on June 21, he said, "On June 21, 1982 it (music day) was a French event."
About the Kolkata leg of the event, he said "We have great young musicians from the city who will be dishing out different types of music."
