Gang steals cigarettes worth Rs 30 lakh; nabbed

: About Rs 30 lakh worth of cigarettes being transported in a lorry were forcibly taken away by a four member car borne gang near Melur in the district, police said.
They said the gang intercepted the lorry near the town late last night and made away with the cigarettes. The lorry was proceeding from Bengaluru to Madurai.
The lorry owner filed a complaint following which the four were arrested. The lorry was secured and Rs 600 in cash was seized, they said
All the four were produced before a judicial magistrate here today, who remanded them to 15 days custody.
