One Baaru committed suicide last evening by consuming sulphas, Station Incharge of the Hastinapur police station, P K Singh said today.
On receiving information about the suicide bid, police rushed him to a nearby hospital which referred to a hospital in Meerut but he succumbed on the way, Singh said.
Baaru's neighbour had lodged a complaint with the police on Wednesday that her daughter was allegedly raped by him and his two relatives - Arun and Sudhir - following which a case was registered against them, he said.
Akhilesh has lodged a complaint against the woman, her husband and three others on charges of filing a false case against his father and abetment of suicide.
An FIR has been registered on the basis of his complaint, the Station Incharge said, adding an investigation is on in the case.
