The Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) has sought a clarification from the Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) about the proposed helipad at Aguada plateau and the helicopter 'joyride' facility which was started a month ago.
On February 2, GTDC, in association with Pawan Hans, had started helicopter 'joyrides' for tourists to the Aguada plateau from here. But they were stopped soon after the Congress leader Agnelo Fernandes an other locals opposed them.
Fernandes had also written to the GCZMA, complaining that the proposed helipad would be illegal.
"You are requested to provide clarification with respect to...Details of the project, approved plans, necessary permissions obtained and also detailed clarification with respect to the proposed construction of helipad," GCZMA member secretary Srinet Kothwale has said in his letter.
Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar had asked the GTDC to stop the helicopter rides after the locals feared that it would impact the tourism and affect their livelihood.
