"The installation of 200 CCTV cameras will be carried out by a private-telecom company, which is erecting 4G network towers in Indirapuram area. GDA has also given some relaxation on rent to the company for using government land like parks and streets to allow them to install more towers and cameras," GDA's Officer on Special Duty (OSD) D P Singh told PTI.
According to the district authority, installing cameras will boost security system and also help police check crime and identify people involved in criminal activities like snatching, robbery and loot.
"Police has forwarded this list to the company, which has been asked to install all 200 CCTV cameras by June 30. Thereafter, police will look into the operations of these CCTV cameras. A control room will also be set up for monitoring footages," the GDA official added.
Indirapuram, one of the posh localities of Ghaziabad, has seen a rise in cases of snatching, loot and robbery.
"The objective behind this project is to enhance security system in Indirapuram area. It will also help police identify accused persons. These cameras will be installed in all major markets, malls, some residential societies. Control room will be set up at Police Lines," Deputy Superintendent of Police Ran Vijay Singh said.
