'Gilmore Girls' reboot in works

Netflix is in negotiations to revive the beloved mother-daughter drama "Gilmore Girls" (2000).
The streaming service is in talks with series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino about bringing back Rory (Alexis Bledel) and Lorelai (Lauren Graham) for four 90-minute movies, said The Hollywood Reporter.
An insider said the production would start early next year.
"Gilmore Girls" ran for seven seasons from 2000 to 2007 on The WB/CW, earning a loyal, loving fan base who delighted in the bond between mom and daughter, and celebrated every Stars Hollow festival as if the town were their own.
Last fall, the series was made available to stream on Netflix, sparking a renewed interest in the show.

The cast -- minus the late Edward Herrmann (Richard Gilmore), who passed away on New Year's Eve 2014 -- reunited at the ATX Television Festival in June, and addressed the possibility of a reunion.

"There is nothing in the works," Sherman-Palladino said at the time. "But the good news is, nobody here hates each other." She added, too, that if they ever did decide to do a reboot, they'd "do it correctly."
The stars, for their part, seemed game to get back to their tiny Connecticut town. Scott Patterson (Luke Danes) said it was "kind of time," while Kelly Bishop (Emily Gilmore) felt the show needed a proper "wrap and a finale."

Many of the series' original cast members are apparently in talks to return.
Not among them, however, is Melissa McCarthy, who played Lorelai's best friend Sookie St James.
