The condition of one of the injured is said to be serious, police said.
The incident occurred when a youth festival of Calicut University was on at the college campus and students from nearby colleges had gathered at the venue inside the college complex.
The deceased, Anusha, a first year degree student, and the injured, all girls, from the Sree Krishna College, were standing near the tree, when it got uprooted and fell on them.
Few cars, parked nearby, were also damaged in the incident.
