Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar today told the Legislative Assembly that the State Employment Policy would be ready in August and it would provide subsidy to private firms in which 80 per cent of the employees were Goan domiciles.
In another incentive to the local population, Parrikar said that works contracts up to Rs 25 lakh of the state government would be given only to Goan contractors.
The employment policy will address issues related to the regularisation of temporary and contractual employees in the government sector in a phased manner, he said.
"Industries employing 80 per cent Goan staff would be entitled to 25-50 per cent subsidy in wages and salaries that they disburse," Parrikar told the House.
The Goa chief minister also said that future recruitments to certain categories of government jobs will have a two-year experience criteria to ensure government staff are well versed with the working of the private sector.
He said that a high level empowered committee and inter-departmental committee of officers had covered 32 state departments to find out their manpower requirement and a recruitment process for 2,500 jobs in the government sector would begin soon.
He said that for posts like lower division clerks, a common selection test for all vacancies across state departments would be conducted so that prospective candidates are not subjected to repeated recruitment tests.
The employment policy would focus on recruitment of Goans in the private sector.
"This has already been demonstrated by the provisions in the Information Technology policy and Industrial policy," Parrikar said.
