Director of Mines and Geology Prasanna Acharya told reporters that the e-auctioning was held on August 19, 20 and 21 for 3.8 million tonnes of ore lying at jetties, mining sites and Mormugao Port Trust (MPT).
Of this, 3 million tonnes of the key steel ingredient was sold out and the state government collected Rs 287.62 crore from the sale, he said.
The next e-auctioning has been planned on September 2, when around 2.18 million tonnes of ore would be on sale, Acharya said. "The government has so far auctioned 5 million tonnes of ore that has fetched Rs 620 crore."
