As the monsoon is receding, the state-appointed lifeguard agency will begin classifying safe swimming zones from October 9 onwards for tourists.
The agency, Drishti Lifesaving Services (DLS), is manning the state's entire coastline and few of the inland waterfalls frequented by tourists.
"We will resume setting up of safe swimming zones on Goa's beaches from October 9 onwards as the monsoon season has come to an end and post-monsoon showers are receding," the agency spokesman said in a statement issued here.
He said the DLS had issued an advisory instructing beach visitors not to venture into sea during the monsoon period extending from June to September end.
"Red flags are erected at all the beaches indicating that they were no-swim zones, which essentially meant that the beaches are not meant for swimming. Even wading into the waters is not advisable during the monsoon months," the spokesman said.
He said DLS maps the weather and sea conditions every morning and accordingly sets up safe swim zones along the beaches, which are manned by the agency.
Drishti's 600-strong lifeguard force mans Goa's beaches throughout the year.
