Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar presenting the state budget yesterday announced the proposal of this scheme planned to be implemented by the sports department.
He said the scheme would cover "meritorious" sports personalities above the age of 60 who are in indigent conditions and have represented Goa at national and international level.
"The details of this scheme would be worked out by department immediately," he announced on the floor of the House.
The state government has also earmarked Rs 150 crore to the Sports Authority of Goa for the purpose of developing an international standard facility for hosting 36th National Games. The facilities would include various indoor and outdoor stadiums, he said.
