Author Gillian Flynn, who wrote 'Gone Girl' and worked on the screen adaptation of the novel, has hinted at the possibility of the sequel.
During a recent interview at the BAFTA LA Annual Awards Season Tea Party, Flynn said that it could happen "at some point" as long as the project involves the original team, reported New York Daily News.
"There could be a sequel at some point if everyone is game to get the gang back together, it could be really fun a few years from now. We could pick it up and see what those crazy Dunnes are up to a few years down the road and if they got on - not well I don't think," she said.
"I would have to have the exact same people to do it - I would want Rosamund Pike, Ben Affleck and David Fincher to do it."
'Gone Girl' tells the story of a man named Nick Dunne who is accused of murdering his wife. Affleck plays the husband while Pike portrays the wife, Amy.
Directed by Fincher, the movie which generated buzz during the awards season also features appearances from Neil Patrick Harris as Pike's obsessive ex-boyfriend, Tyler Perry and Kim Dickens among others.
